News Release
Trust in MK Dons
is delighted to announce its formal registration with the Financial
Services Authority and the appointment of its new Board.
Trust in MK Dons is the Supporters
Trust for MK Dons Football club. It has been created by Dons fans,
for Dons fans to take an active role in supporting the long term
healthy success of the club and of football across the diverse
community in Milton Keynes. Creation of the Trust has been unusually
funded by the community of Milton Keynes, rather than seeking
recourse to public money as per almost all other football supporters
trusts. Over £2000 has been raised by Fans, the local community and
local businesses to underpin the creation of the Trust for the
People of Milton Keynes, by the People of Milton Keynes, to enable
this groundbreaking legal registration. The Trust becomes another
Vocal and Vibrant part of the growing Football community in Milton
Keynes.
The Trust is already working on a
number of ground breaking projects with the club and community, and
we look forward to bringing details to you soon. As a taster one of
these envisions the mobilisation of around 10,000 people from the MK
area in a ground breaking initiative in support of the club. Another
project includes a World first, involving at least 72 local schools.
Dons fans are at the heart of these typically audacious projects
from inception to delivery.
Trust in MK Dons is also now able
to announce the make up of its inaugural board, following recent
elections at its AGM. Phil Gerrella, former Mayor of the New City
has become the Board’s first Chairman and Mark Payne, who has been
involved from the outset in establishing the Trust is now Vice Chair
and Communications Officer. Board Secretary is Bill Watts and
Treasurer is Paul Berryman. Jane Seeley has taken on the role of
Projects Co-ordinator, a vital role given the work already planned.
John Brockwell, Chair of the MK Dons Supporters Association has been
co-opted to the board.
